Disco Ball

What does one paint with water colors, other than flowers and landscapes?

I saw a disco ball in water color by Dave Muller about a year ago at Leo Koenig's Gallery. Brilliant: a minimalist grid in a sphere, but not Op art and the bane of 1960's art critics who dismissed the use of recognizable form. Furthermore, it's a pop culture reference. I just had to make one of my own.

In music they call copying a 'cover', in academia it would be called a reference or footnote, in art it is appropriation, and anywhere else it is stealing.

Nevertheless, I think I m going to paint a six foot tall disco ball on the wall of my new apartment - if Kathrin lets me.
